Learn With Kathleen!
Moving Through WorkShops & Events
I really love teaching and group facilitation. A few times a year, I create (or co-create) special events that focus on aspects of wellness that are universally valuable. These events will introduce a concept and allow us to explore it through experiential learning – self reflection, group discussion, movement or creative expression. Please note these are experiential learning events, not group therapy.

Grounded: Somatic Skills for Stress Management
This four-part series is designed to strengthen your mind-body connection and improve emotional resilience in the midst of life’s many stressors. Using a somatic (body-based) approach, we will develop awareness of how sensations and emotions ‘show up’ in the body and learn practical strategies to get grounded and improve resilience.
You will learn how the nervous system is designed to respond to stress and protect us in overwhelming situations, consider your own unique stress response patterns, and explore practices to support greater emotional regulation. Each session will include a learning focus with somatic tools, experiential practices (such as tuning in to sensation in the body, mindful breathing, gentle movement) and opportunity for reflection.
This program is right for anyone experiencing significant stress or anxiety, feeling disconnected from their body, or seeking new insights into their emotional patterns. Please note that this is a skills-based group experience, and not group therapy.

Customized Programs
Learning tailored to your group’s goals
I always enjoy contributing to special events such as retreats and staff professional development days. I bring several decades of experience in program design and group facilitation, and I love to create ways that participants can learn, reflect, connect and express. This might include education about stress management, nervous system regulation, healthy boundaries, self-care, and other wellness topics. I draw on my skill as a movement educator to incorporate safe, playful and adaptable somatic movement and music to support this learning.

Workshop Organizers
These people have invited me to create customized movement experiences that align with the themes of special events or retreats, and encourage expressive, non-verbal reflection. The movement, music selections and verbal cuing are crafted to stimulate integration of what they are learning in the event, e.g. self awareness, community connection, appreciation of the natural world, etc.
“I have had the privilege of knowing Kathleen for approximately 20 years, collaborating with her across various professional roles. Recently, I invited Kathleen to lead a Self-Care and Stress Management session as part of a Career Transition program. She facilitated an immersive and highly engaging full-day workshop, providing participants with practical tools and strategies for managing stress and prioritizing self-care. The workshop was exceptionally well-received, with participants expressing great appreciation for its value and impact.”
“I have worked with Kathleen collaboratively on two occasions and have recommended the hiring of her to create a healing retreat for special circumstances in our workplace. The common thread through all these experiences is the care Kathleen takes to listen deeply to the need and to create experiences that are tailored beautifully to the group. These are not cookie-cutter experiences, rather, they are skillfully created and thoughtfully facilitated. Through years of Kathleen’s experience and training she draws on play and humour, and alternately is able to provide the space needed to open to painful emotions.”
“I had the pleasure of seeing Kathleen in action a few years ago. I was running a somatically focused retreat with a colleague, and we had asked Kathleen to come in to provide some group movement for the retreat participants. I was really blown away by her skill at facilitating a safe, fun, playful, empowering movement experience for all of us. She somehow showed up with the perfect offering for that exact moment in the retreat. We all left the experience more energized, connected and empowered. Her presence and joy brought us into such a fun exploration of movement. People who are good at what they do can make it look effortless. Kathleen is one of these facilitators and I highly recommend working with her if you have the opportunity.”

Workshop Participants
Participants are often local folks who are curious about wellness and appreciate connecting with others in a friendly learning atmosphere. We’re all in this together.
“I have loved every event I’ve been to where Kathleen has been involved as an event facilitator or an activity leader. Kathleen is an attentive, compassionate and fabulous facilitator. She is extremely clear in her delivery and sharing of information, but more importantly goes the extra step to make sure all participants feel valued and included.”
“Kathleen has a special gift; the ability to ground a room no matter what it holds and let peace enter. In her workshops, each individual is seen and respected within the safety of the group. Everyone is encouraged and given the freedom to work at their own physical and emotional comfort level. Kathleen has an aura of inclusion and joy about her when sharing her knowledge. I learn from and deeply respect her as a facilitator.”
